Maine Seeds:
The Way Life Should BE
The Maine Seeds Program at Seeds of Peace is made up of several components. It begins with a two-week Summer Camp at the Seeds of Peace International Camp in Otisfield, Maine. During these two-weeks, about 100 Seeds from 14 different schools in Maine come together to develop leadership skills and engage in dialogue about major issues they see facing their school and local communities, such as racism, sexism, bullying, and poverty. The schools the Seeds come from are: Portland High School, South Portland High School, Deering High School, Casco Bay High School, Catherine McAuley High School, Westbrook High School, Scarborough High School, Waynflete School, Cheverus High School, Lewiston High School, Edward Little High School, Cony High School, Dexter Regional High School, and Kents Hill.
However, Camp is just the beginning for the Seeds! After Camp, they have opportunities to engage in year-round programs that enable them to develop strong relationships built on mutual trust, and the skills needed to engage others in their schools and communities to promote religious and cultural understanding.
